ABOUT
Hafsa Syed is a Pakistani-American architectural designer, currently working as a Junior Designer at Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM) in New York. She holds a Master of Architecture from the Architectural Association in London and a Bachelor’s in Architecture from the University of Westminster.

Her previous experience includes working with renowned Pakistani architect Yasmeen Lari on disaster relief and climate-conscious design, as well as developing prefabricated housing solutions in Houston, Texas. She also serves as a visiting critic for undergraduate architecture students at the University of Westminster.

Hafsa spent her formative years in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and is particularly interested in the use of natural materials across geographies. Her design approach explores the entanglements of ecology, material culture, and vernacular building technologies. Driven by a deep commitment to ecological stewardship, she investigates bio-based materials and zero-carbon construction as tools for more climate resilient futures.
